The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) distributes social grants to more than 18 million beneficiaries every month. Grants distributed by them include the Older Persons grant, War Veterans grant, Disability grant, Foster Child grant, Care Dependency grant, Child Support Grant, Top-up Child Support grant and the Grant in Aid.
Several payment options are available to grant beneficiaries allowing them access to their money. However, depending on the payment option they choose, they may have to wait for a specific day to collect their money or they may be able to access their grant at any time.
Currently, four payment methods are being used by grant beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries can choose to have their grant paid directly into their bank account. This payment option allows them to access their money 24/7. Due to the flexibility this provides beneficiaries, many are choosing to change their payment method.

You need to get a form from your nearest Sassa office, take it to your preferred bank for a stamp then send it back to Sassa with your bank statement or proof of an active bank account from your bank.
Other Grant Payment Options
Selected retail outlets have partnered with Sassa to distribute social grants. This allows beneficiaries to draw their money at any time when the retail outlet is operational. Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Boxer stores, Usave stores and Checkers all distribute social grants.
Beneficiaries can also collect their grants at Post office branches around the country. However, they are only able to collect their grants during predetermined time frames and on official payment dates.
There are also mobile cash pay points where grant beneficiaries can collect their money. However, this is not a flexible payment option and beneficiaries will only be able to collect their grant payment for a few hours during a grant payment cycle.
